Barbed Wires is a blog on politics, geopolitics, identity, conflict and human rights. It offers critical views on these themes within both global and regional contexts. It focuses on South Asia and Southeast Asia. Sometimes, it also tells personal stories – of grief, longing, joy and memories.

It is run by Angshuman Choudhury. He is an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi. Before this, he was Senior Researcher at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New Delhi, where he also coordinated the South East Asia Research Programme. He was a GIBSA Visiting Fellow to the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Berlin in 2019.

Angshuman is also the co-founder of the Right to Nationality and Citizenship Network and sits on the Board of Trustees of the Development and Justice Initiative (DAJI). Angshuman works on armed conflict, foreign policy, forced displacement and citizenship regimes. He hails from Assam and is currently based in New Delhi.
